THe ART of Directing
NEW! The Art of Directing ACTORS workshop!
SPRING 2025. The Depot, Lewes.
The Art of Directing Actors
Directing actors can seem intimidating and our first instincts are often wrong. Additionally, a lot of advice on directing actors can be frustratingly vague. To make it even more complicated, no two actors use the same approach. No wonder many directors hide behind the camera!
In this intensive six hour workshop award-winning director Robert Dee will break down a practical systematic approach to helping directors find believable, captivating performances in their actors. From casting to on-set adjustments, this workshop will give you everything you need when it comes to performance. Using techniques such as Practical Aesthetics you will learn how to communicate concisely and clearly - giving actionable direction - to get what you want. Additionally, there will be a strong emphasis on the psychology of gesture so you can learn how, in collaboration with your actors, you can bring rich meaning into the subtext of performances through body language.
The workshop will consist of live demonstrations and detailed slides of many techniques you can use when developing performances with your actors.
Spaces will be limited so register your interest now and get the confidence you need to get the performances you want.
The price of the workshop is £100 and consists of SIX HOURS of material. Attendees will all get unlimited FREE ACCESS to the future online version of the course. Attendance price also includes tea + coffees.
